Questions Ontario owners ask before hiring a growth team

These are the questions owners actually ask on a first call: what it costs, whether there's a contract, who does the work, who owns the accounts, how long results take and what happens if a previous agency let them down.

Short answers are in the questions on this page. The notes below add context for the four topics that come up on almost every first call: cost, ownership, past agency experiences and how to judge progress.

Frequently asked questions

What does an outsourced growth team cost?

Monthly retainers run from $2,500 to $12,000, projects from $3,500 to $25,000, and hourly consulting from $175 to $350, in Canadian dollars before tax. Where you land depends mostly on how many roles are active.

Is there a long-term contract?

No lock-in. We recommend treating the first 90 days as one planning cycle so the numbers have time to show a trend, but you can end the engagement with notice.

Who actually does the work?

Ali Sedighi leads the engagement and runs the plan. Tasks are assigned to roles (search, paid acquisition, website, content, analytics and follow-up), and the weekly scorecard shows each task's owner and status.

Who owns the website, ads accounts and Google profile?

You do. Every account, domain and file stays in your company's name, and we work as users you can remove. If we find accounts owned by a former vendor, recovering them is one of the first tasks.

We tried an agency before and it didn't work. Why would this be different?

Usually the old arrangement measured activity, owned your accounts or covered only one channel. We measure enquiries and won work, keep everything in your name and work across the whole path. Start with an audit if you want proof before committing.

How long before we see results?

Follow-up and website fixes can show within weeks. Ads changes often show within a month. Search pages and content usually take several months. We judge the plan at the 90-day review, not before.

Will you promise a number of leads or a ranking?

No. Anyone who promises rankings or leads is promising something they don't control. We commit to the work, the rhythm and honest measurement.

What reporting will I get?

A one-page weekly scorecard every Friday, a short weekly check-in with Ali, and a written review every 90 days. No 40-page decks.

How much of my time does it take?

Plan on 30 to 45 minutes a week for the check-in, plus quick approvals. More in the first two weeks while we gather access and information.

Can you work with my existing staff or agency?

Yes. Staff who answer enquiries or post on social media become part of the plan. An existing ads or web vendor can stay, with the growth lead setting priorities and reporting the combined result.

Do you work only with HVAC or trades businesses?

No. We work with Ontario service businesses, professional firms, clinics, B2B suppliers and multi-location operators. Our published results are labelled as results from our HVAC work, because that's where they come from.

Are you based in Ontario?

No. Ontario.Team is headquartered in Vancouver, BC, and meets Ontario clients by video call or in person, as well as by phone, text and email. Our hours overlap the Ontario afternoon and early evening.

Is there a performance-based option?

Yes, for a limited number of businesses. In the Growth Partner Program, Ali invests time upfront and is paid on measurable results agreed in writing.

On cost

The honest answer to "what will it cost?" is a range until we know which roles you need. A business that needs local visibility and follow-up fixed is paying for two roles; a multi-location business needing every role, in two languages, is paying for far more. The pricing page shows every range and the five factors that move it. The first 30-minute consultation is free.

One tip that applies to any vendor: always separate the fee for work from the media budget. If an agency won't tell you how much of your monthly payment reaches Google, that's a warning sign.

On ownership

Ownership is the single most important protection you have. Before signing with anyone, ask for a list of every account they'll use and whose name it will be in. With us, the answer is always yours: domain, hosting, website files, Google Business Profile, ads accounts, analytics and social pages. We're added as users, and you can remove us in minutes.

If you suspect a former vendor or employee controls one of your accounts, our onboarding guide explains how to check and what to do.

On bad agency experiences

Most owners who come to us have been burned at least once. The common patterns are reports full of impressions and clicks with no enquiry count, accounts held in the agency's name, a junior account manager who changes every few months, and no clear plan. Ask any vendor, including us, to show you a sample of their weekly report before you sign. Ours is described in the weekly scorecard guide.

On who does the work

We describe the team by role because that's what you're buying: someone accountable for each job on the plan. Ali Sedighi leads every engagement, sets priorities and runs the weekly check-in. Each task on the scorecard carries the role that owns it and a due date. If you want to know who is working on something, the scorecard tells you, and you can always ask Ali directly.

On timelines

Different kinds of work pay back at different speeds. Fixing follow-up and the most-visited website pages can show within a few weeks, because it recovers enquiries you already receive. Paid search changes often show within a month. New service pages, area pages and content tend to take several months to earn search visibility. A sensible plan mixes fast and slow work so you see early movement while the longer-term work builds.

On working with your own people

Your staff are part of growth whether they're in the plan or not. The person who answers the phone decides whether an enquiry becomes a customer. So we include them: they use the lead log, they appear on the scorecard, and the follow-up rules are written with them, not handed to them.

On leaving

Ending an engagement should be boring. Give notice, and we hand over a short written summary of what's in progress, remove ourselves from your accounts (or you remove us), and leave your documentation where you can find it. Because everything already sits in your name, there is nothing to transfer back.

On judging progress

Give any growth plan a fair test: 90 days with clean tracking, then a written review. Judge on enquiries by source, cost per enquiry, response times and, if you share it, won work. If after a proper test the numbers haven't moved and nobody can explain why, change the plan or change the team.
