Demand work is the part of growth most owners picture first: getting found. Our approach is to do a smaller number of things properly and every week, rather than a long list of channels poorly. For most Ontario service businesses that means Google Business Profile, local pages, paid search and content, in that order.
What it includes
Google Business Profile and reviews
Your profile is often the first thing a buyer in Barrie, Burlington or Brampton sees. We keep categories, services, hours and photos accurate, answer questions, and set up a steady, honest review request process tied to completed work. We never buy, gate or script reviews.
Local service pages
One page per real service and per Ontario area you serve profitably, each with information a buyer can't get elsewhere: what the service involves, typical timelines, what affects price, and how to reach you. No thin pages that swap a town name and nothing else; Google treats those as doorway pages, and buyers can smell them.
Paid search
We build or rebuild your Google Ads (and Microsoft Ads where it's worth it) around the search terms that become jobs. That means tight location targeting to the areas you serve, negative keywords reviewed weekly, ads paired with the right landing page, and conversion tracking that counts answered calls and real emails rather than button clicks.
Content
A monthly calendar built from the questions your staff hear on the phone. A useful guide that answers "how long does this take?" or "what does it cost in Ontario?" will outlast a dozen generic blog posts.
Who it's for
This role suits Ontario businesses whose website and phones work reasonably well but who need more enquiries. If your site is slow or your phone goes to voicemail at 4:30, read the website and conversion page and the lead follow-up page first. More traffic into a leaky system just makes a bigger puddle.
A worked example you can check
Suppose your average job or contract is worth $4,000 in revenue at a 35% gross margin, so each won job contributes $1,400. If one in four qualified enquiries becomes a job, each enquiry is worth $350 of margin to you. That's your ceiling: paying more than $350 per qualified enquiry loses money before overheads.
Now say paid search costs you $90 per qualified enquiry today. You have room to raise bids in your best areas. If it costs $400, the fix isn't more budget; it's better targeting, a better landing page or faster follow-up. Run this with your own numbers before you approve any ad budget, ours included.
Timeline
| Period | Typical work |
|---|---|
| Month 1 | Profile clean-up, tracking, ads restructure, first service pages |
| Months 2–3 | Area pages, first guides, negative keyword and bid tuning |
| Months 4–6 | Content cadence, review process running, expansion into the next area |
How results are measured
We report enquiries by source from your lead log, cost per qualified enquiry on each paid channel, search visibility for the services and areas in the plan, and review volume. Every number appears on the weekly scorecard.
What we need from you
Demand work moves faster when a few things are ready on your side:
- Manager access to your Google Business Profile and ads accounts, in your company's name.
- A list of the areas you want work from, ranked by margin, plus the areas you'd rather not serve.
- Real photos of your work, premises or team, taken on a phone. Stock photos convert poorly and can mislead.
- Ten minutes a month to confirm which enquiries became paying work.
Mistakes to avoid
- Targeting all of Ontario when you serve six towns. Wasted clicks from Thunder Bay won't help a Kitchener business.
- Counting phone-number clicks as leads. Many never connect.
- Buying reviews or offering incentives for positive ones. It breaks platform rules and invites scrutiny under the Competition Act.
- Publishing content nobody asked for. Start from real questions.
This work usually runs inside the embedded growth team retainer.
Frequently asked questions
Do you manage the ad budget or do I pay Google directly?
You pay Google, Microsoft or Meta directly on your own card. Our fee covers the work; the media spend never passes through us.
How quickly does search work show results?
Profile and ads changes can move numbers within weeks. New pages and content usually take months to rank, which is why the plan runs on 90-day cycles.
Will you write content in French for Ottawa or eastern Ontario?
We can plan bilingual pages and campaigns. French copy should be written or reviewed by a fluent writer, and we'll scope that as a separate line rather than run machine translation.
Do you do social media?
Only where it produces enquiries for your type of business. For many Ontario service firms, search and a well-kept Google profile come first.
